@theomegleyouhate that still doesnt make every song a variation of something else though which is what i was saying. i completely agree that you cant make a song without some sort of an influence though or else you wouldnt be able to generate a style to your playing

@mccheese95 He 100% explains exactly what I'm talking about within first 2 minutes. It's impossible to make some creative without some sort of influence. Even if it's a bird singing or a car horn honking, that influence is what triggers creativity. The genre of hip-hop was created using samples of music. People have sampled Jon Bonham drum beats when producing hip hop and created something new with that influence. The Paul Gilbert and Deep Purple example isn't that direct, but it's the same idea.

@theomegleyouhate thats not true at all. it doesnt prove that at all. that can happen but not in all cases. everyone has inspiration but that doesnt mean its a variation of something else at all.

Paul Gilbert can play Smoke on the Water.

Damn, that was the best information I've heard in a long time
This proves that everything in music is a inspired variation of something else. Creativity is being able to make something of your own out a inspiration from something that was done by someone else before you.
