You could never get away with this or I Dream Of Jeannie now. A female being controlled by a man. Though in a strange roundabout way, they sort of controlled their so-called controllers (which is the way it usually works anyway) . Julie Newmar was the ultimate 60's chick. What a woman and sooo talll! AND plays piano brilliantly !!

I knew there was something strange about the show "Small Wonder" since I was a child. With its robot doll girl who does everyone's bidding without any protest, it's just a strangely uncomfortable premise. It turns out, "My Living Doll" is the original idea, as Howard Leeds created both shows. Much less strange with "My Living Doll", the sexual innuendos are obvious and humorous as opposed to being off limits, taboo, and uncomfortably based on a little girl.

@genericgeorge - I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, My Living Doll = My Living Doll is the only 1 that I'm not TOO familiar with. I think my parents thought it was too " sexy " for a kid. A guy keeping a female robot in his house, possibly using her for God - knows - what ? I think that's what my parents were thinking. You've got to remember that these programs were made in an era w / not even married couples were shown in bed together. & NOW we're too PC to show women like this.

Julie's a trained pianist. She played Chopin during her appearance on "Person to Person" (Charles Collingwood was the host of that one, not Ed Murrow).
