wow, that was deep, lol... listen to yourself.. thats why i think its cool for people interested in songwriting to always have a notebook and pen with them, so they can write down ideas at the moment, and that way they are not forgotten and wasted.. :)

i like that he suggests not to be poetic. often times the format for poems is very hard to convert into a song, i should know because i write poetry. i have a few song lyrics as well... if anyone wants to read and share go ahead and PM me!

Another tip: Don't force rhymes. Switching the subject & predicate in a sentence so that you end on a rhyming word is ("I misbehave/ 'cause your love I crave") is amateurish, but so common. I started working in a studio by singing demos for other songwriters. I sang lots of bad lyrics. Fortunately, I learned how NOT to write a song before I started writing stuff myself. I write a page or two of prose about a subject; certain phrases jump out & I might even find a natural rhyme. I go from there.
