From http://www.josepino.com - This is one of the simplest homemade motors. Originally was created by Beakman features at The Beakman's World. Easy to build and some part needed. This is a cool project! It already won science projects at some Schools.

You can find how to build your own Beakman's Motor and other science projects in my web page: http://www.josepino.com/other_projects/index.pl?beakman_motor.jpc

  • can you do this with a C battery?

  • Yes, it can be done with a C type battery. Do not build this project with a 6V or 9V battery.

  • @JosePino why?

  • @shidoink Because the prophesy says so.

  • WARNING if you are on the hunt for copper wire, NEVER look in old TV or MICROWAVEOVENS they have near permanently charged components even after being switched off for a long time,I am talking about MANY 1000's of VOLTS here. Try CAREFULLY stripping some TV coaxial cable (a tv aerial/antenna lead)if you see a tv guy or electrician on your travels, just ask, most will give you a spare scrap bit.

  • Great advice.

  • @PhobiaGuy

we don't know what to say.....

  • @shidoink Oops, I'm wrong six is an even number. It's because a nine is a six upside down.

  • @shidoink because six and nine are odd numbers

  • what do you need for this becuz i need to build one for a project wha tmaterials do you need ):

  • and what are the practical applications? :)

really though, i love little gizmos like that, you can read about electricity and magnetism but they're just abstract concepts until you can see them actually do something.

  • do you have to use magnet wire??
