Tolerance? Where does it state the word "tolerance" within any state, or federal Constitution? A tolerant man has no firm convictions of his own. Those who preach tolerance are usually the the ones most intolerant of others.

I think that some of you people are mixing up democracy with a totalitarian society. A democracy is a society (in layman's terms) of, by, and for the people. There's more to it than that, but that's basically what it tries to promote. A totalitarian society hinders public opinion and choice, and instead has a system of pre-chosen people (usually dictators) to run the government. Fascism, for example, is a totalitarian society that is extremely right-winged and promotes excessive capitalism.

There are other types of totalitarian systems... for instance communism and 21st century socialism... like Venezuela and Cuba both forms of left-wing and promotes hate towards any group that doesnt believe in there system.

Anyway.. all the alternatives have been proven to suck a long time ago, and the obvious mistakes of a theocracy, autocracy, technocracy, etc. make democracy comparatively godlike.

What makes democracy suck was demonstrated by a guy named Thomas Malthus a long time ago in a context not motivated by political favoritism.

It's inevitably going to turn to shit because we'll run out of resources and overpopulate like a motherfucker and then Anarchy and chaos will reign. The end.

The problem is the foundation of democracy and unlimited enfranchisement (anyone can vote).. it's based on the fallacy that all people were created equal and have the same ability to judge and vote on political issues, no matter how complex they are.

So, now we have a dumbed down version of republicanism.. two parties that appeal to whatever whims will get them the most votes, and billion dollar campaigns that aren't focused on policy, but popularity.

That's democracy in the U.S.
