The siege of Tadmur has begun and Syrian forces are attempting to withdraw to the west. I command a mechanized company tasked with outflanking the retreating Syrian forces and clearing out civilian structures that they may be hiding in. Two Syrian armored companies arrives to relieve and support the withdrawing forces which results in a huge firefight against dismounted US troops with AT weapons.

  • By this game we can see, since theres is no immediate fixed wing air support, how costly a invasion on a well-equipped military would be... modern day ATGM's like the AT6 and AT11, and even modernized T-72M would have anyone taking horrendous losses just as we take in the game. That's why i personally adore playing the Red side against the AI - it's a turkey shoot for the most part. Cept for the Abrams. They´re tough from the front. But against them there are IED's...

  • @Devokonstai The battlefront documentation says that the Syrians learned lessons from the Iraq Wars and so didn't deploy their forces in mass formations in the open, but rather put their best equipment and armor in urban centers. Doing so mitigates the air superiority of BLUFOR to a degree.

  • another super AAR.

question: have you had better luck in clearing buldings with a the hunt move or quick to the door and then hunt inside?

  • @snoo333 Use assault on buildings with a maneuver element. Have another element with clear line of sight to the building in "overwatch" covering the moving element. If you know there are enemy in the building have the overwatching element fire on it. The best teams for assaulting are MOUT teams, use the charges to blow through each floor, which more or less automatically suppresses enemies within.

  • I really love playing Blue at night. The optics can really make the difference. I find many of the missions that BF shipped with the game require you to close with the enemy, totally negating Blue's main advantage of long range fire superiority. Makes for an interesting game, but in a real war I think commanders at higher levels would choose not to fight these battles. Instead passing strong points in the initial invasion, then dealing with the insurgent/IED threat after. AT-14 FTW!!!

  • if you only had a rifled gun you could use HESH rounds collapse that building in a couple shot.
