A young woman is worried about her cat, trapped on the roof of a building, when who should arrive to save the day? Why, it's Susan Hayward Man, a superhero with all of the amazing powers of classic movie star Susan Hayward! But who is this glamorous crime fighter, and how did he come to be?

(While I'm an old movie buff, I don't think I've ever actually seen a Susan Hayward movie. This cartoon wasn't really meant as a celebration of or an attack on Hayward, it's just a goofy idea based on stories about the production of "The Conqueror".)

  • An (almost) absolutely true story, you forgot the part about the fact that the main radioactive element at the down wind site (where the filming took place) was plutonium.

I had studied the plight of the "down winders" since I was about 18.. it proves to me some pretty nasty things can happen, with permission of governmental agencies. I think it was under the Clinton administration where the down-winders got an apology, but no compensation I mean for death and loss of property. Its very sad.

  • @AlterEgoTrip: I was a little ambivalent about basing a goofy cartoon on this... It was a truly terrible thing that happened to those people. But I kept thinking of a superhero who gained his powers via a bite from a radioactive Susan Hayward, and it was too ridiculous to resist. Maybe I should follow up with John Wayne Girl, a drag king who was bitten by John Wayne! (But then, would she dress like a cowboy/girl, or a Mongolian warlord/lady?)

  • @MmeLEnfer Or Bettie Page Man - that would be fun too.

  • How about Jayne Mansfield Man?

  • Susan Hayward Man - A man with all the astounding powers of Susan Hayward! haha. This one needs to continue.

  • LOL! Too funny!

  • @MsUrsulaHitler oh no, A radioactive John Wayne!!! That's may be even scarier than a radioactive Agnes Moorehead!

Too many of those comic books make light of being bitten by radioactive spiders and gamma rays.. wait until someone from the TSA who's been operating those machines all day gets supernatural powers.. that may actually be an interesting thing.... very very scary like something from all the darkest nightmares on the face of the earth!

  • But enough with the seriousness I utter, it was funny.. especially when Agnes Moorehead man showed up!
