I was there - I had the privilege to be operating Camera 4. I got better when I got older....

Well, ch'yeah.
Let's see, you had to play, you had to write, you had to lead the band and be in a BAND; you had to tour your butt off to get people to forge the alliance with you...oh, and you had to play like you were all growed-up and not some emo' twit of a 10-year old.
Now, you just pose, and get yourself on the latest reality show, karaoke contest bandwagon!
Rory wouldn't have made a spalsh on American Idol, the 10-year-olds would've thought, "that's too rough!"

This gives me shivers....Rory wailing on that worn out wood-grained Strat, if you don't get chills watching his facial expressions as he gets all he can out of that 6 string, you AIN'T living. Rest In Peace,Rory!!

@lesburst Thanks for the post. Rory was and is an artist that created because it was the only thing he knew to do. He had plenty of chances to buy into image, artistic compromise, etc. but he stayed true to his ideals. I'm forever grateful that I came across Live in Europe '72 when I was a young lad. Rory helped me to see outside my adolescents and realize that life is what you make of it. Not what's dealt to you early on. Cheers Rory.

I see these so called 'musicians' on tv etc nowadays who are only interested in how they look, and with absolutely no musical talent or charisma, and then I watch something like this from Rory who honed his art by playing almost non stop in pubs, clubs, and small venues, big venues etc around the world for most of his life, (even when he was really ill, imagine Bono or Paul McCartney doing that!!) it makes me realise over and over what an extraordinary guy Rory was!!
