it's more a shot at lennon than a compliment. though they respected each other, there was an element of competition about them -- dylan was influenced by the beatles music, lennon by dylan's lyrics. however, the "i never asked for your crutch, now don't ask for mine" is directed at lennon.
personally, i think they're both incredible, but overall, the scale tips in dylan's favor

Thank you. I needed to hear it from someone else. Sure, other bands have some REALLY powerful lyrics but Bobby's lyricism is hands-down THE BEST of all time.
