ASADOYA YUNTA
The island of traditional music, Okinawa, is the focus of this new library. The disc is packed with the sounds of traditional Okinawan instruments, folk songs, and Hayashi (shouts).

A symbol of Okinawan tradition, the Sanshin, is an instrument used to create mystical sounds. The Sanba, known as Ryukyu castanet, punctuates the rhythms, while the Fue (flute), Yubi Fue (flute), and Taiko (drum), and vocals complete the complex, rich texture of the genre.

  • What beautiful music! I have never been to Okinawa but dream one day visiting it. This music really takes you there!! Is this part of an Album? Where can I get it!!!

  • @tamashii14 It is a sampler. The above song is just a demo I made for the sampler. There is a link in the description to the song on itunes. I am really glad my music could make you happy.

  • With teary eyes I thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing my parents to me through your music. Parents were born in Hawaii and raised in Okinawa and both are deceased. The memories of them playing the shamisen and dancing are so clearly etched in my memory bank. Your music brought them to the forefront this evening as I watched your video and the chills ran down the back of my spine. You made me happy this evening and domo arigatou gozaimasu, Discovery Sound.

  • It makes me sad to think of the earth and know that the word "Traditional" means the world use to have cultures. Now we all dress the same and listen to the same music and the world revolves around money. And every once in a while, we all get to dress up and look "silly" and remember what we use to be, when we were human instead of cogs in a machine.

  • Now I want some Okinawan Soba. . . WHY DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN TEXAS!?

  • I live in Okinawa,Japan.

and omg! i love the festivals there when they play the samishenn! im a proud half okinawan american :)

  • @tamashii14 Go to Okinawa, I lived there for 14 years and there is no where in the world like it. I would give anything to be able to go back.

  • @sniperwolf7 Asadoya Yunta, 安里屋ユンタ in japanese.

  • anyone know the name of this song?

  • Actually it is the southern most prefecture of Japan.

  • @orthant Actually, it is the Southern most prefecture of Japan.

  • I lived on Okinawa for three years and had many chances to listen to music like this. Even still, though I was born in the US and am back, when I feel homesick it is for Okinawa. The culture, the people, it was all very beautiful.

  • It's a traditional song, one of the most known. Exactly for that is so unique.
