Band: Crossroads (Wilhelmshaven, Germany)
Album: The Wild One (1991)
This is the debut of CROSSROADS, a German band founded by Reent Froehlich and Peer Würfel after the split of FACT (two albums in 1984/85). The style is completely different: While FACT played ACCEPT-like, typical German Heavy Metal, CROSSROADS made fine Melodic Metal in the tradition of harder American AOR bands.
Compared to FACT, Froehlich completely changed his style of singing from a quite... well... interesting :-) grumbling to real melodic singing in a much higher voice, even with some screams. I will upload the second FACT album soon and you won't believe it's the same singer!
After "The wild One", the band released two more albums: Hype" (1992), which was a bit more commercial and "Gasolined" (1994) which was very different than the two other records. In my opinion "Gasolined sounds somewhat strange. It seems that the band tried to get more progressive but failed miserably. I've bought that CD without listening to it before and was very disappointed... :-(
CROSSROADS disbanded in 1995.
