Irans eastern neighbors Pakistan has nukes and Afghanistan is US battlefield. Their western neighbor Iraq has been neutered by the US and so they are fresh out of friends in the neighborhood. If they try to nuke Israel they will be killing Palestinians and irradiating Sunni Arab states, which is a bad idea. They aren't paranoid because their fear is justified - they are pretty much surrounded. They are just crazy enough to use nukes on a bad turban day. That would be their LAST mistake-KaBOOM!

We will know for sure when Iran is close to being dangerous because Israel will thump them in short order. I wish the Iranian citizens would step up and revolt against their oppressors at the opportune time. There are a bunch of good freedom loving people in Iran that deserve legitimate leadership.
