CopySix & R.Stomp of UrbEx Barrie explore the Midwestern Regional Centre. This was built in 1966 for mentally challenged youth and was operated by the Ontario Ministry of Health. The facility closed in 1998 and sat idle until 2006 when it became the short-lived Village Green Lifestyle Community which became bankrupt within several months. In 2010, the Cham Shan Buddhist Temple (Thornhill, Ontario) purchased the property (about 164 acres) for around $3 million for use as a retreat centre or perhaps a retirement residence. At the time of this urban exploration, the Owners still had not yet 'moved in'.
