Are They Alive? - A solo show of contemporary artwork by Treiops Treyfid
This collection of work consists of a series of what the artist calls "Dynamic Portraits". These are artworks in the form of relief sculpture created through a complicated process using exotic materials such as holographic foil and polyester resin. Holographic foil is a material which seems to have energy bursting from it. At every angle the holograms reflect light into different patterns and colors. The basic imagery for the pieces is derived from photographs of wig forms and manikins, which are fake representations of humans. The artist finds the contrast between the seemingly "alive" holographic material and the imagery from "not-alive" wig forms fascinating and dualistic.
