I don't know how anyone can read the Bible and not be appalled by the hideous things God says and does.
Yet millions of people somehow reconcile themselves to believe that God is ALL loving, and ALL forgiving, because SOME bits of the Bible say so.
All the other bits point to an insane, war-mongering mass murderer - yet millions of people somehow convince themselves that he's not.
It's like convincing yourself that a square is actually a circle.

  • God is indeed a square circle.

Sometimes I think the Bible was written on a bet. Someone said, "I'll give you guys that pile of myrrh over there if you can write a book full of lunacy, immorality, an ultimate good guy doing the most evil things imaginable... claim it to be true, and can get, oh I don't know, 10 people to believe it."

  • Very well put arguments. I can imagine fundamentalists with hands on their ears shouting LA LALALA LALA LALA...

    LOL

  • If Jesus is God, as Christians assert, then it was in fact Jesus who committed the attrocities attributed to Yahweh in the Old Testament. So much for 'gentle Jesus meek and mild'.

  • @neoman121 And if indeed nothing happens and we just die, we won't even know that has happened, because all we can know if that is true is life's consciousness.

  • @ChipArgyle Ya really, it's sad how so many people believe something to the point that they accept it as a fact. For all we know there is no God and we are just random blips that don't matter. Or, God might just be up there laughing at how stupid we are for believing in this thing called heaven, and we all might be doomed whether we deserve it. Of course ANY sane person will disagree, but that's besides the point, the point is that WE DON'T KNOW what happens after death until AFTER it happens.:)

  • @neoman121 That is the irony, isn't it?

  • and, God, can i have my foreskin back?

  • I brought up the statement that God created people and got mad at them, so he sent him self on earth to sacrifice himself TO himself in order to forgive his OWN creations... I brought this up with my youth group leader and he just chuckled like I just made a sarcastic joke... I'm not becoming Atheist, but my beliefs are drastically changing, from the evidence I've seen and experienced, it seems as tho we are all 100% consciousness, and are ultimately in control of what happens to us. Maybe.

  • @ChipArgyle How about closer to 10 billion people. >.>

  • @NonStampCollector

You can make both sentences correct by saying that a "square" is a dark line on a yellow background and does not describe a geometric shape........heh did it.
