Rev. Troy Perry presides at a mass gay and lesbian wedding before the March on Washington in April, 1993. New York City police officer Edgar Rodriguez is seen in march footage. Activist and musician Michael Callen, in one of his last public appearances, sings "Love Don't Need a Reason" to the throng assembled on the Mall.
I was very lucky to have been at the 1993 March on Washington. This video brought it all back for me! It brought a tear to my eye to watch these beautiful scenes.
Michael Callen's spiritual light and his music were gifts to the world that sadly we lost far too soon. RIP, beautiful man.
I am also proud to live in a state that recognizes gay marriage. The tide of justice and equality is rising, and nothing can stop it. Not ignorance, not fear, not hatred, nothing. Love will win in the end.

I wasn't able to make this march in 1993, unfortunately.
I had forgotten that there was a mass lesbian and gay wedding at this march. This was well before any gay marriage, civil unions or domestic partner laws were passed by states in the U.S. These weddings were only symbolic in 1993.
Look how far we've come!
And Michael Callen's performance is so beautiful.
Thanks for uploading this video.

Gay marriage is a contradiction of terms there are no complementarities to merge together, not physical or psychological. Legalizing Gay Marriage would also legally persecute anyone who would disagree with the ruling. If Christian’s parents want to pull their kids from a public school event that promotes homosexuality they will no longer have the CHOICE to do so, their rights will be gone!
