I forgot to add the link for that awesome TV on DVD site... Here ya go:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com

I've been wanting to do this one for a while, but had to wait for all 5 sets to be released so I could do it properly.

This is part 1 of my in depth review of Voltron on DVD! In this part, we take a look at the ultra-cool tin packaging, and check out the contents of all 5 volumes. For an added nostalgia trip (and to explain it a bit for those who have no clue what Voltron is all about) we take a look at the opener of the show as well.

In Part 2, I'll be talking about the extensive remastering/restoration that went into this release.

ALSO: be sure to check out World Events Production's YouTube page (they're the folks who brought us Voltron in the first place!) at:

http://www.youtube.com/user/WorldEvents

They have tons of cool Voltron related vids, as well as clips from other shows they've released over the years.

And of course, let's not forget the Official Voltron Website:

http://www.voltron.com

Enjoy!

P.S. Some of you may notice that this review isn't widescreen like my other videos. Well, that's because the clips I show are fullscreen, and it just made it easier to do the whole thing fullscreen rather than mixing aspect ratios. Yeah, I'm lazy.

  • im hopeing you can help me. this has bin bothering me for a long time. there was a movie that was a lot like transformers, i can only remember the end but there was a big fight and there was a volcano planet and where the main base off the bad robots was

  • @maggiegils82 Possibly Gobots: Battle of the Rock Lords? That came out around the same time as the Transformers movie.

  • I just bought the blue lion collection from an Amazon seller, and was shocked to see that the tin wasn't embossed, there was no booklet or extra anime works DVD, and the 3 discs came in a standard DVD case, not the one that folds out like in your video. The set doesn't look to be a bootleg; it looks like it came from the manufacturer. It just seems to be different than the one on your video.

Do you know if different versions of these sets were made? Maybe “scaled down” versions?

  • @TheJr3008 It's possible, I know they do scale down sets sometimes. For example, the Real Ghostbusters complete collection originally had all 5 volumes in Steelbooks in the box, but the recent releases have been regular cases instead. To my knowledge no such thing was done to the Lion sets. There's the tin sets which should be as you see in the video, and the 2-volume set of just the discs in large regular cases. Might be a Chinese bootleg, they're usually quite fancy like that.

  • how many volumes does this have

  • @SuperKingNova Lion Force Voltron is 5 volumes, Vehicle Force is 3.

  • @TheJr3008 I just purchased the 5 lion sets and they were all good except Volume 1 Blue Lion. I talked to amazon and I am waiting for the replacement to see if it is the same. Since I can't buy these in a store I won't know which one I am getting until it arrives. This is going to be pretty shitty if I can get the embossed fold out version since the other 4 I have are!! If they are going change the packaging at least mark it somehow so buyers know what they are getting!!!!

  • anyone know if voltron volume 2 onward is out in the uk or is going to be?

  • @TheJr3008

Embossed was the word I was looking for,not "bumpy" but glad you got the blue tin set like the one in this video

  • I just want to add the small comment for the reviewer your not the only one who likes Vehicle Voltron more, I like it too for the plot.

  • These sets are much nicer looking than the Australian sets by Madman which I have I do have Fleet of Doom from Media Blasters which is cool. Nice vid too mate.

  • @Zaranyzerak Impressive review on Voltron. It was my first Anime i watched before i got into Dragon Ball and Gundam, i learned alot of new info on Voltron :)
