"Coach" Simpson Pepper was the PA announcer at Legion Field in Birmingham for 43 years. He spent 57 of his 79 years in education in Alabama. He passed away August 6, 2008.
I loved Coach Pepper. My best memories at Central Park were my daily talks with him. He always made me feel so special when he called me "school beauty". He meant the world to my family and he will be missed.
He was my history teacher at Central Park Christian. I will never forget him. He would always have something funny to say that day. He was a great man, with an even bigger heart.
