"What! No Mickey Mouse?" This was a popular saying in the 1930s to express displeasure of a movie house not playing a Disney cartoon before the main feature. Ben Bernie (May 30, 1891, Bayonne, New Jersey - October 23, 1943), born Bernard Anzelevitz, was an American jazz violinist and radio personality, often introduced as The Old Maestro. He was noted for his showmanship and memorable bits of snappy dialogue. Ben Bernie was noted for always having a cigar in hand and some speculate this may have hastened his death in 1943. Bernie was a free-mason, member of Keystone Lodge n.º 235, New York City.
