Shot way back in 2004, this shows the process to make the sacred brew ayahuasca. The film features my first teacher, don Juan and a couple of his friends assisting him with lighting and tending the fire and pounding the vine segments. Ayahuasca usually takes at least five hours to make, often longer, depending on the quantity of brew being made.
The Ayahuasca Foundation's six week initiation course goes through each step and students get to make their own ayahuasca and then see its effects in ceremony. When you make your own ayahuasca, the effects are almost always stronger for you, provided you've made it properly, because the brew has your energy already in it, and is in tune with your vibrations.
The Ayahuasca Foundation also runs ayahuasca retreats, in addition to the six week initiation courses. For more information on ayahuasca and their retreats and courses, visit their website: http://www.ayahuascafoundation.org

  • After all that hard work they contain it in an old, cheap plastic bottle. Son-of-a...

  • These guys have a better technique than the young hippies with the simple addition of that containing stick to keep the roots down under the water.

  • @norcalblack I'm not certain, but it looked like a rolled cigarette. I have heard that some cultures add tobacco to their Ayahuasca brew. I would be afraid of adding tobacco as the only Ayahuasca related fatality I know of involved such a mixture where the lady died of acute nicotine poisoning as a result of the Ayahuasca accentuating the effects of the nicotine. All just speculation on my part, though.

  • finally a REAL video that actually puts the preparation process into visual perspective. I've researched many different forms of preparation using many different admixtures and its left with with many different questions... this video answered almost all of them. :)

  • @norcalblack Looks like Mapocho
