  • Thanks for the comments! Cheap and easy was the point of this project.

    If a heavy duty bench suits ones needs, heavy duty materials are a must.

    If a light/medium duty bench is what one wants, this might fit the bill.

  • Hi,

    It has the potential to be sturdier if you are on an uneven surface. There is less surface area for the bottoms of the legs to balance on when you taper the ends.

    If you're on a smooth surface it is not as important.

  • Talk about cheap and easy, think I will stick w/ 4x4 legs and 2x12 top, back and apron. People will build a bench how they want their bench. I would never use plywood or 2x4s

  • How does a taper make it more stable?
