Fame 1980

I Sing The Body Electric

Film : Alan Parker
Music : Michael Gore
Lyrics : Wade Lassister

I sing the body electric

I celebrate the me yet to come

I toast to my own reunion

When I become one with the sun

And I'll look back on Venus

I'll look back on Mars

And I'll burn with the fire of ten million stars

And in time

And in time

We will all be stars

I sing the body electric

I glory in the glow of rebirth

Creating my own tomorrow

When I shall embody the earth

And I'll serenade Venus

I'll serenade Mars

And I'll burn with the fire of ten million stars

And in time

And in time

We will all be stars

We are the emperors now

And we are the czars

And in time

And in time

We will all be stars

  • i looooooooveeee this song my mom sings it over and over and

  • Each time I have seen this clip or the ending to this film I ask myself what happened to all of these kids, actors, dancers after this film. I always wondered. This remains one of my personal favorite films of all time and when all of the graduating students get up to sing my heart breaks a little just wondering whatever became of them. Well where ever they are may God bless them as they remain immortalized in this film forever. FAME RULES!!!!

  • MADONNA actually auditoned for the tv show FAME and they did not cast her! Can you believe it!

  • All those instruments and not a single banjo.

  • Love this song. LOVED the movie in 1980; still love it today. They remade it...ugh! Original TV series (80s) was OK (loved it when I was a teenager. Have seen reruns recently & thought, 'Oh wow...the acting was God awful, but the singing was usually very good & the dancing was sometimes incredible!) The updated series (early 2000s??) - not even OK. Didn't last long. Still love Irene Cara - the queen of the 'feel-good-about-yourself' song!

  • That is me at 3:51, Don't blink!! This brings back such sweet memories. I get misty everytime I see it.

  • what a shame, irene cara, the cute little tan skinned cuban-american chick, got screwed over by the recording industry, and, her career never became what it should/could have been. after,"what a feeling", a huge monster hit,she dissapeared. what a crying shame. bullshit contractual issues, fucked her life up. the music industry, can go to hell. thank god, we have the technology, to bypass them[rec indust] these days.

  • This song makes me feel good. It has always put a smile on my face and at the same time a tear in the corner of my eye. Reminds me of old friends and good times.

  • @divasing This is the authentic version; what were they thinking in Hollywood remaking this?

  • @divasing in the 2009 version the ending song wasnt the same it was good but i prefer the 1980 best but both are good

  • i love it!
