@SandraLondon63 Stop calling me boy, for fucks sake. I'm not your child.
-
@SandraLondon63 I didn't even notice shoulder pads being that big last year. I was a kid in the 90s and got sick of it in about 1995 when the bloody Britpop and lame bands like Blur and Pulp were put on pedestals. And how on earth is it "known" among your "friends in music circles" that electronica is coming to an end? Apparently in another video thread you classed Alicia Keys (who I do love) as hip hop? WTF? R&B yes but not hip hop. You are full of pretentious bullcrap.
-
@JMR83 yeah, I don't dispute that the years 2007 to now have been influenced by 80s music, and fashion (just a little). But it is comin to an end boy.
-
@JMR83 when 80s revival will die (by 2012 the most), you will have to wait another 20 years before it comes back.

@SandraLondon63 sorry meant to say circles... typo..

@JMR83 yeah, but enjoy the 80s while they last. Fashion and music trends travel as fast as light speed. Remember the 80s shoulder pads of last year? Well, they are ridiculous this year and electronica is soon comin to an end (this is known among music cicles). Never liked the 80s even when I was a teen during that time. When you are younger (such as in your case) it is very easy to romanticized eras. The 70s were rebellious and really kicked ass. I was 16 in 1980s and didnt' like the change.

@JMR83, the first time that I have ever heard Bulletproof was in the summer of 2009 when it reached the tops here in the UK. You also need to read that Wikipedia page again, which clearly says that La Roux's debut single, "Quicksand", was released by French independent record label Kitsuné Music in December 2008.
Well, Run DMC, were a different kind of 80s, but Hip Hop improved so much in the 90s and early 2000s... I guess is a matter of taste.
-
@SandraLondon63 I really don't care. I have always liked to be open to all musical sounds but it's the SNOBS like yourself that put me right off.
-
@SandraLondon63 Everything comes to an end? But comes back again and ends again, duh.
So what if Shakira used to be different before, the fact she used 80s electro/disco influences recently shows the enduring appeal of the sounds.
I know you are biased in your one-sided hatred of such a fun and exciting time so don't bother trying to come back with lame arguments. Just remember a lot of hip hop owes it to old skool 80s hip hop and electro. I don't care if you have friends in music biz.
@JMR83 > i don't like to explain, but I will...
it is meant to be sarcastic!!
you know; everything "80's" is being recycled into shitty pop nowadays...(the last 10 years!) and it just made me a bit sick of it.. so i wrote this "anti-anti" sone.. with a nudge and a wink..
listen again, and hopefully you'll see the humor AND respect we have, especially for bands like the ones we mention in the tune...
