Oh...the memories! That "bump, bump, bump" noise as the floppy loaded Locoscript...every machine made the same racket.
the PCW 8256/512 were a great introduction to computing and, for me, as a young student, a great word processor. It relegated the correction fluid to the bin as you could edit as you typed. Locoscript was extremely powerful for its day and the dedicated keyboard meant that a mouse wasn't all that necessary. A great example of compact programming.

@Bootnecklad, hey you have a good model, i owned a PCW 8256 in 1985, shame on me i sold it,.. :( Now ifound a PCW 8512, started it after 12 years in a box and it worked, great, all PCW models are great,.. i have a collection of 30 computers, specialized in Apple, but the PCW is still my favorite!

I have a pcw9512! still the old 3" discs but no green monochrome screen, white monochrome. My model s ugly! I wish i had a 8256!
