  • What part of Reno is this? And what bait or lures do you recomend?

  • Hey Doug,

    super cool vid.

  • Those are some great browns! I see you in a lot in pics during winter. Do you think winter is better than summer for the Truckee?

  • Hey Doug, awesome shots!

I couldn't help but notice the NZ All Blacks hat, are you a rugby fan? I am a big fly fishing fan and an even bigger rugby fan. Played for US eagles and overseas.

Love to get into some trout like you have-

    Bill Leversee

  • @CondemnedPatriot educate your self before rambling.

The truckee river cant sustain a resident population of cutthroat trout because they are a lake dwelling species that migrates out lakes up streams. Tahoe has a gate for water and makes it impossible for fish to migrate.

  • im planning a trip up their really soon hopefully i can catch some nice fish

  • @CondemnedPatriot i think wild trout means a trout that wasn't bred at a fish farm and then released at 1-2lbs into a river or lake. you can easily tell these fish from wild ones (meaning those who were born in the river or lake) because the fins of wild fish are considerably better formed.

  • Wow Doug, you are the king of the Truckee. Pleasure meeting you today. Oh yeah, I caught a nice 22" bow upriver this afternoon.

  • @tminoe I got a problem with this. What constitutes a wild trout? For example I am in Lake Tahoe, and I go Mackinaw (or lake trout) fishing, and it turns out they are not wild trout, but they were brought to this lake by immigrants. The brown trout? Is not native to America, but was brought here by Germans.... In fact, most of the native trout species are almost extinct... golden trout, cut throat, etc... And why are these species almost extinct? BECAUSE of Macks and browns.. Reality is a bitch

  • Doug it''s been way to long, coming soon I hope. Great looking fish!!
