Private Life of a Cat Explored (one of the first lol cats funny cat videos ever) is an intimate observation of two cats- originally created by Alexander Hammid, in 1947 (on 16mm B/W film, as a silent movie).

It stars a male cat (the white one), and a female cat; observing on film the complete birth and growth of their five kittens.

It is awesome to watch the miracle of birth, let alone the inspiration derived from discovering a non-dysfunctional cat family...

Right down to the dad cat teaching the kittens to climb a scratching post.

The female looks like my cat Toby's mom. Interesting they do show the process of birth of the kittens even at that early time. Also I like the way they seem to tell the story of the events without narration from a cat's eye view. I had taken care of a couple of strays, the female had babies before we could catch them and get them fixed. The male was indeed great at helping her with her SIX kittens. Found homes for every one and I kept the male cat, who was a wonderful house kitty.
