Friedrich Nietzsche on Master and Slave Morality

Nietzsche was not some modern anti-racist. I know it may shock you, but the view held by modern cultural Marxists is an atypical one. Nietzsche is not speaking about race in particular. He was a philosopher. But anyone who's not willfully daft can see how his philosophy has implications regarding the natural world. And race exists within the natural world. Right wing ideas and non-egalitarian ideals like the ones Nietzsche stood for are about differentiation on ALL levels.

And the way we view race today as something that doesn't matter at all is an abnormal view. In fact, the anti-racism "we're all brothers in Christ" thinking comes from the very system of belief that Nietzsche dedicates his life to tearing into-- Christianity. In Nietzsche's day, the dirty word "racist" didn't even exist because it was taken for granted that one would prefer their own because people didn't have unhealthy and guilty instincts about who they were.

This is is utterly incorrect. Nietzsche throughout his writing, constantly berates the Germans of the day, German nationalism and German politics. He viewed most of the proto nazis with disdain and often chastised them for their antisemitism. He even says the jews 'are a blessing to Germany'. This is obvious to anyone who actually read his books.

@mikelheron20 I forgot. Youtube doesnt let you send links. The video is called Nietzsche and the Nazis 2/2 and is by Stephen Hicks . Part one is an overview of the various elements of Nazi philosophy. Part 2 focuses specifically on the influence of Nietzsche.

@JayGatsbyOdysseus If you are interested you may wish to follow this link. It is an in depth analysis of the question we have been discussing. I think you will find it very fair and balanced. Of course, you may have already seen it. If not it is worth watching.

@JayGatsbyOdysseus When I first studied Nietzsche (1970-74, at university) the "standard view" agreed with yours. However, I have read Nietzsche for myself and formed my own opinions on the subject over the years. I am psychologically predisposed to challenge and question the accepted wisdom. Some see this as just being contrary, and a fault - I consider it to be a virtue. But no one who knows me would accuse me of automatically going by what I have been taught, I assure you.

I have never suggested that there is no connection between Nietzsches writings and the Nazis. But it is not a connection he would have approved. At its heart Nazism was founded on racial hatred and Nietzsche would not have identified himself with that. Nietzsches opinions were cynically taken out of context and used to lend an air of intellectual superiority to the garbage that Rosenberg (among others) spewed out. Nietzsche (unlike Heidegger) would not have given Hitler the time of day.

@mikelheron20 I don't believe in any conspiricy theory nor do I believe in God. We are very similar. The difference is that I admit that there is a relationship between Nietzsche's writings and the Nazis. You do not believe this. The reason you do not believe this is because that you were taught that there is no connection by teachers and you believed these teachers. If Nietzsche was alived when the Nazis came to power, N surely would have joined. This is obvious to one with intuition.
