From 1:36-:152 Tatum sounds quite a bit like Donald Lambert.

@gullivior I think Tatum was the result of a lot of work and dedication to playing his instrument.

@brabazon10 The fact that he played so beautifully while being almost completely blind (clinically, that is) is just another testament to the brilliance. His hands feel the keys like our eyes would see them.

Art Tatum's piano playing was so far above ordinary mortals, he was able to coordinate the most extraordinary sense of harmony, time and an ability to modulate which leaves me gobsmacked. RIP Art
quite unable to put in to words how staggeringly brilliant his playing was; as if he was from another planet. too much for this guy.
