  • A lot of people say that Carol O'Conner was the opposite of Archie Bunker in real life, but even his Archie character had a heart of gold deep down.

  • some people should never die.

  • Carroll O'Connor has been a part of my life since I was a kid. To this day, I watch All In The Family EVERYDAY! Love ya Archie!

  • @ericmathison1 There will always be misguided parents who think that if they fail to achieve the desired results in the 1st 18yrs, they can just keep interfering as long as it takes. Hugh was 33, so don't say "child" as if he was 14. If the parent has failed at 18, it's out of his hands. He can still help as a friend. But "becoming a spy" is more likely to hurt than help. Respect Carol, fine . But this is about proper approach. Clearly, O'Connor's strategy did not achieve his desired results.

  • He was the best.

  • I adore(d) Carroll O'Connor.

"Valid point of criticism," I think not. My respect was only elevated when I heard Mr. O'Connor say that.

Try losing a son to drug addiction because you were too liberal of a parent; an advocate of letting your children "make their own mistakes," who championed for individual freedom and choices. Try telling yourself that same, pathetic message at the funeral of your child.

Sir, it's parents with the same beliefs as you, that have dropped society's integrity down a "half-notch."

  • I miss you Mr. O'Connor <3 I felt bad for him when he was talking about his son "Look at poor pop down here without you" :( He seemed like a really sweet guy as well as talented.

  • The whole idea of parents having the right to act as life-long police, chaperones, and (let's put it in plain language, here) "spies", is so off-base that I think it's amazing that he advocates it. Adult offspring make mistakes. But they have that right. You don't have to support them in it. But you have no right to intervene. My opinion of O'Connor dropped a half-notch after watching this interview. Sorry to interrupt the O'Connor Love-Fest with a valid point of criticism.

  • love the show!

  • Greatest tv character of all time

  • Archie, I miss yous.
