This is Mattel's Talking Blaze, a toy from my childhood in the 1960s. He still says all phrases but there is a vibration or rumble that is audible. The sentence "How about some hay" is still rare to get him to say. He can still gallop and rock back and forth. He's still the greatest horse toy!

  • I have one of these as well. Do you have any idea where I can seel it & how much it would be worth? Thank you.

  • @549neo I've seen Blaze for sale on eBay. Recently someone had him priced at $100 and he no longer talked. You might try to sell on Craigs List or a vintage re-sale shop.

  • I still have my Blaze, but he doesn't talk anymore. You have kept your Blaze in excellent condition.

  • @slb928 Thanks. When I was little I would put a blanket on him at night so he wouldn't get cold.

  • @Sittingbullies For the record (in case anyone else finds one that needs to be shipped) we discovered Greyhound Express for shipping--cost around $65 but needs to be dropped off and picked up at a Greyhound station.

  • I just purchased one of these on Ebay BUT we are having trouble disassembling the horse for packing (and, as/is they said it would be over $200 due to the width to ship it!) Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to break it down for shipping (this model has a rivet rather than a bolt holding the stand so it might have to be drilled out and replaced with a bolt for reassembly?) Any tips for shipping safely and inexpensively? it appears that others have shipped this for around $45...

  • @Sittingbullies No. He's not in the attic anymore. I'm letting a co-worker of mine's daughter keep it temporarily for her little boy. The little guy can't get enough of riding Blaze. After he outgrows Blaze I'll be getting him back though. However, you might try E-Bay. I had seen a Blaze awhile back on there. Apparently, Blaze is just as popular now as he was back in the mid '60s. Thanks anyway for offering and good luck finding one.

  • @ridgerunner721601 You wouldn't be interested in selling him, would you? :)

  • Wow! I'd LOVE to find one of these for myself (and to share with my grandkids if they are careful!) My grandparents had one when I was young and it was my favorite toy ever!

  • Just sold on on EBay for 224 + 45 shipping. Nothing broken and the voice box worked with string.

  • W0W I never saw this b4. What a fantastic kids toy back in the day. How cool is that~~~

  • Omg! I had one of these! It originally belonged to my dad, though. :)

  • Really cool!! The biggest talker I've seen, now, if only I could get a Talking Jill to ride him ;)
