Music aint competition? Say it to Dylan! Watch de Coppolas Docummentary. He wanted so hard to destroy Donovan since the beginin of England secound Tour

I love Donovan. And I love Bob Dylan. It's extremely stupid and rude to say one is better than the other. They were both completely different musicians. Donovan was all about peace, love, and happiness; which is AWESOME! But Dylan was a protest songwriter; and he prides himself in that! And with great reason. No musician has been able to create songs with such powerful, intense words. You all hating on Bob Dylan is extremely retarded. They're both equally great. Music isn't a competition. -___-

@slayerrules114 Amen, brother. I was high school when this song came out. I played a Gibson J body like Donovan originally played. Loved Dylan but also loved Donovan. They are two very different artists, with very different styles. In my view, no folk performer ever played flat-pick guitar as well as Donovan. Listen to "Colours" or "Universal Soldier" for good examples. He was a master at it. Incredible player, writer, and singer. His first two albums are simply classics.

This is quite possibly the most beautiful song ever written by anyone....makes me cry every time I hear it.....
Donovan was NOT a Dylan clone. His songs that SOUND like Bob Dylan are songs shaped after the traditional/folk songs of SCOTLAND, the place where he is FROM. Bob Dylan was far from original. he learned everything from Woody Guthrie, when he traveled to meet him. You ignorant twits don't know anything about anything.

Donovan's style of strumming, singing and songwriting is much more influenced by the folk songs of his native Scotland than by Bob Dylan. And Dylan's early style was far from original, as anyone who's heard Woody Guthrie knows.
