This is a collection of home movies made around the 1930s, judging by the cars, of a trip from probably California to Arizona.
The Mother Road was open, gas was cheap, water was free (when you could find them), and the lure of the open road was undeniable.
This film seems to start in San Ysidro, moves through New Mexico, and on to the Grand Canyon, which though in black and white, retains a stark majesty.
The original film is a little strange (I know, you're shocked). The person at the camera had a real fascination for filming the native peoples they ran across to the point where they're all but shoving the camera into the natives faces. Kudos for none of them losing it and socking the cameraman!
But that aside, the scenery is beautiful, and the music is just as amazing. This flowing and thoughtful piece was composed by Matt Williams, resident piano and sometimes drum playing Flying Monkey.
Who is eighteen years old! Tedd is swearing up and down this is the same song that they worked on a few months ago, "Matt's just had time to work on it", and I don't believe him. But, this is the finished version.
Hope you enjoy!
