Chris Lundy performs an Extended Column Test on a 9000',SSE, 32 degree slope. The column fractured and propagated on 24 taps. The first test fractured and propagated on 18 taps. The failure layer was facets 2 feet down that were on the surface and got buried Jan 5. These tests indicate that the snowpack still has the ability to produce avalanches on some slopes. This layer has been responsible for several of the recent triggered avalances.
