http://www.boyinaband.com - check out my site for the text version of the tutorial, as well as more Reason 4 tutorials!

I explain how to make some less conventional synths in thor using the phase mod oscillator, wavetable oscillator and FM Pair oscillator, how to make some interesting sounds with the formant and comb filters and how to make some sweet FX with the modulation bus routing section.

If you have a suggestion for a tutorial, comment it below my lastest weekly video blog (you can find it on my channel).

If you make anything with this effect, be sure to post it as a video response!

  • best softsynth ever

  • midget enthusiastic

  • just like daft punk would do

i was looking for this kinda of synths

    thanks!!!

  • @eddgomezHaHa Thanks man! Reverse; i get it: kinda like Stuck in reverse, but moving forward. Cool.

  • Ahhhh i see what you did at the end there.. the whole "dubstep" joke. Cheeky devil.

  • @hartistry1957 Listen to good producers/musicians, leave the DAW for a while, play with old synths from previous songs, listen to a previous song in reverse, (this worked for me once...) change DAWs (fruity loops, ableton, logic pro, etc) or a personal favorite: google chord progressions in whatever key you prefer and use those. (having a chord progression already made will help you kickstart a song)

  • I find it hard to initiate a song; kinda like writer's block, on occasion: Anyone have some tricks to get something started; keeping it fresh?

  • These Reason tutorials are the only ones I will watch. If I ever make any money creating electronic music, I will owe this guy at least 10% of whatever I make.
