Voices from Chernobyl Wirksworth Part 1

Extracts from the play "Voices from Chernobyl" written for six characters by Cindy Marie Jenkins based on the book 'Voices from Chernobyl: The Oral History of a Nuclear Disaster' by Svetlana Alexievich (published in 2005), performed outdoors on Monday 25th April, the Eve of the 25th Anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, at Stoney Wood in Wirksworth, Derbyshire as part of a Candle 25 commemoration vigil organised by the Bonsal & Derbyshire Dales Link of the charity Chernobyl Children's Lifeline. This was one of many such candle 25 vigils taking place in the Uk and all over Europe on the same evening, organised by the European Chernobyl Network.
The characters in the play:-
Vasily Shimanky - Physicist
Katya Shimanky - daughter of Vasily Shimanky
Anna Sushko, Resident of Chornobyl
Grigory Filin, former soldier, Leader of a clean-up Crew
Sergei Gurin, Camerman from Minsk
Svetlana, a solitary human voice, wife of a fireman
