YES we must stop this development. No More Floodplain Development in SEQ.
It is too risky to create another potential Flood prone Community, look what happened to Flooded Queensland so far, this will have the potential to be a Flood Disaster yet again ! FEDERAL INTERVENTION is required to stop this insanity !
Are you kidding! Sunshine Coast council have agreed to a sand mining development on the other side of Caloundra South. 70 YEARS that will mimic these vast "developer sites" shown on this video! WITHOUT PUBLIC CONSULTATION! Staddie is fighting to rid of sand mining because of the ABSOLUTE DESTRUCTION it has caused. At least developers have a mountain of guidelines they MUST adhere to in making the BEST community resource available. COUNCIL = HYPOCRITES.
Look at Stocklands nearby estate Woodgrove at Beerwah. Stocklands said it doesn't flood but the council record say that it does flood like in the 1989 floods. The estate comes off and is below Roberts Road whose lowest point flooded by over 1m in the 1989 floods.
So all of the houses in this estate better have good flood insurance.
So if you can't trust the government and Stocklands in small estates, how are we going to trust them in the big estates.
Bring on the development, jobs for my and your kids, maybe finally affordable housing and once the people are here more roads schools shopping and transport facilities...bring it on
