OK, apparently no one on here knows anything about music theory. Hardly surprising. Let me try to give you a brief overview of tempo and time signatures. Almost ALL dance music has 4 beats per measure (think the kick drum in house). Thus, when you count "1, 2, 3, 4" along to the music, each one is a beat, and every 4 beats is a bar. Musical phrases usually occur in 8-16 bar groupings. Now, if you count along to DnB and place the snare hits on beats 2 and 4, you will find that it is in fact between 170-180 beats per minute (BPM), however if you cut that in half (placing the snares between all beats), you get 85-90 BPM (whoa, math). Now for some slightly advanced theory. If you subdivide a beat into 3 equal parts, you get what is known as an 8th note triplet (a regular 8th notes is half of a beat). If you take an 8th note triplet at 125 bpm (standard house tempo) and redefine it as a regular 8th note, you end up at 187.5 bpm. Subfocus does this to great effect, as does this track.
