@Fly0High I disagree, high quality art always triumph in a urban environment. There is the same high class building in each corner is like comparing a Swiss Watch with a cheap Chinese Replica one. There are many Rothko imitators but only one Rothko.
@skipper2379 I agree they are beautiful by themselves but they don't work in an urban environment at all. The house he did for that forest or the building in barcelona work because of the contrast with the natural environment and basically because the eye can rest from the strictness of his designs in something natural and organic. But in a city where there is one of this at every corner and you literally cant rest because of the nature of a city, it's tiring and overwelming not in a good way.
@Fly0High Even if you think the generic glass box has cheapened many American cities (as I do), you should still look hard at Mies's buildings, so beautifully proportioned and made of the finest materials: in other words they're aesthetically marvelous.
Your GF isnt in love with you then ;)

I don't like International Style. It has scared the face of Manhattan. One or two it's okay not what has become of the City.

The TD centre in Toronto is the exact copy of the Seagram building in NYC.
Even the courtyards are identical.
