i hate when ortho's floss for you....

I just got my Permanent retainer glued in today. I tried what this lady is doing for flossing and it simply DOES NOT WORK for me. I think maybe my teeth might be two close together or something. Any suggestions?!?!?!

Why is it that some people absolutely need permanent retainers and others can use normal ones?

i've had my permanent ones top and bottom for a few years now and they work great you never lose them flossing is not complicated if you know how to do it properly but its better to get them the day you get braces off then to wait to get fitted and wait and at least their in the back and no one can really tell unless paying attention which no one will but their not bad

I have to get a bottom, and top permanent retainer.. weeeo! -_-

Yeah... That's not as easy as it looks. I've had my retainers for years now it it's basically impossible for me to floss. I always end up stabbing my gums and it never gets through the other side and I just end up with sore bloody gums from trying to floss. Sadly to adimit, I just wait to go to the dentist to get it cleaned.

@WhoBeauty typically the choice is yours if you'd like bonded or removable. All we can do is offer recommendations based on how your teeth were before you started treatment. It does not hurt to have it put on, you just have to stay open so they can get it all on correctly. Then having it removed is similar to having braces taken off. Hope this helps! ~Jackie

It depends on how much correction was accomplished during their treatment, so if someone was really crowded they would really benefit from a bonded ;)

@DanNazarioDEP It took me about 4 days to get used to mine, and now after almost 2 years I forget that it's even there. I don't know exactly how it feels having it removed, but my guess would be similar to having braces removed. I'll be sure to ask the next patient I have that we remove it and I'll be sure to get back to you :)
