A much better quality video is at http://web.newsguy.com/dougmck
along with a PDF file of the Transcription and the midi file (if you want to try to do this yourself!).
I took a midi file I had created, IMPORTED it into 'Band in a Box' as a midi file.
The notation and piano views were captured using a screen capture program. I have previously done a lot of annotated midi files,
http://home.wanadoo.nl/dougmckenzie/
and because it is quite easy to 're-cycle' them in this video form, I thought that I would convert a few of them into the video format

  • trying to follow the sheet music but it doesnt sound like what y9our playing rhythmically

  • The notation was generated by computer from the midi file that I recorded as I played. As such, it is not always completely accurate - especially when analysing fine resolution. But I think your main issue is with the eighth notes - I followed the common jazz convention of notating these as even 8ths allowing the player to interpret these as required. Also, the main function of these videos is to provide other jazz improvisers with ideas, rather than a completely prescriptive transcription.

  • nicely done. very tasty! can't wait to work out the finer bits.. should be much easier to figure out with your help. thanks

  • Insane version, but 3.33-3.35 is just wrong on the score, less notes!

  • restaurant music ftw

  • This great!, I find your video so helpful in my piano studies

  • very beautiful!!!!!!

  • Where can I find the sheet music?

  • I agree that the notations make for a difficult literal interpretation of how the rythym is depicted. But I love the different styles and patterns you can practice. It's fun but requires a lot of time and patience. big payoff tho!.

  • Excellent!

  • please search for (Dino John - Witchcraft) to hear my version of this classic. thank you.

  • Great work. Loved it. Thanks a lot.
