Animal rights activist wanted by police - Thur, Sept 6, 2007

Thursday afternoon, one week after someone vandalized the windows outside Restaurant Jezebel downtown - you could still see the acid marks.

The vandal wrote "spit it out" across the front windows.

Police say the statement refers to the dish foie gras - which is served at Jezebel.

Foie gras is goose or duck liver. The animals are force-fed before slaughter.

It's a practice - that draws weekly protests outside Jezebel.

Members of the group Central Texas Animal Defense say foie gras is inhumane.

"For 3 months we've been harassed - our customers have been harassed," said Parind Vora, Jezebel Owner and Chef.

Vora says after his restaurant was hit by vandals in July - he knew he had to fight back.

"After the first vandalism, we put up cameras. Some are hidden - some are not. He killed the power to the building hoping it killed the cameras..... but we had battery back-up."

Surveillance cameras caught the vandal on camera last week.

Police say he is Joshua Rosenberg.

On his myspace.com page he says he fights for human and animal rights.

"Unfortunately, they're taking matters into their own hands and damaging property which is not the way to go about it," said APD Detective James Mason.

Police say Rosenberg posted pictures of the vandalism on a website registered to him.

They also say protestors knew him and identified him as the vandal.

"These people threatened my family. They used acid on my windows. All of them are completely destroyed," said Vora.

He says he has no problem with demonstrating - but he should not fear for his safety - or that of his family.

Rosenberg is charged with criminal mischief. He has not been arrested.

That may sound ok, however what if the convicted murderer/rapist was later to be found innocent. It does happen albeit rarely.

@roac7777 No, I think animal rights activists shouldn't ruin their lives by fire-bombing places, they should spend their time becoming educated and working hard to find a universal cure. My idea is use habitual rapists and murderers but only under certain conditions.

We all share the same genetic code with other species even though some like apes are very similar, and some species like dogs are less similar, so yes cures can be found, albeit there are other ways, in some cases, to find cures.

That does not excuse sending bombs through the post and attacking people who work in such places.

There have been many cures found for various diseases by places such as Huntingdon Life Sciences.

You and your ilk should be protesting against the Chinese in the way they treat bears when they keep them in cages in order to extract bile from them. Now that really is cruel and deplorable.

The moronic act of allowing mink to escape from farms some years ago was mindless and also murderous. Mink are vicious killers. Introducing foreign species to any country is crass stupidity.

I doubt they'll discover anything new in a while, seeing as how they've been able to cure cancer in most animals they test on for about 10 years or so now, and they still haven't made any progress, and as for AIDS or HIV, They really won't find a cure unless they at least human Tissue samples, because its HUMAN IMMUNE DEFICIENCY VIRUS, not every animal under the son aside from humans virus. Just let them test on murderers and rapists, and call it a reduced sentence.
