Complete Guide For Setting Up A Minecraft Beta Server
This step by step tutorial will show you how to create your own Minecraft Beta Server! Choose either a Simple server with No Mods or a Custom server with Mods (using Bukkit). Port forwarding is a must unless you plan on using Hamachi or a dedicated server to host your game. I plan on uploading a few more Minecraft related videos so if you have any requests post them in the comments below. Re-uploaded for better quality.
**UPDATE**
hMod is going to be replaced by Bukkit in the near future, check out the new tutorial for setting up a Bukkit server. It is relatively similar. For more information visit:

I'm sure someone on the Minecraft forums could help you as well, they are there for a reason! I will not be updating the links in the video so if something doesn't work try looking for an updated version.
EXTRA PORT FORWARDING HELP
1. Go to http://www.whatismyip.com and copy your IP address.
2. Paste the IP address into your url bar.
3. Enter your router login and password, if you don't know what it is you can refer to this website for the default passwords: http://www.routerpasswords.com
If this still doesn't work ask the person that setup your internet or reset your router by holding down the reset button. If you reset your router you will have to setup your internet again.
4. Find a page labelled "Port Forwarding & Triggering" not all routers are the same but it should have a similar title, just look around in the settings until you find it.
5. Enter 25565 for the starting and ending ports. If you decide to change the port in the server.properties file you will need to forward this port instead.
6. Apply the settings and download this tool: http://www.portforward.com/store/PFPortChecker.exe
7. Install and open PFPortchecker and type 25565 in the box. Check TCP and UDP to make sure that it is open. If it says the port is still not open go back to your router settings and make sure everything is correct. If it still does not work I cannot help you.
»Follow the directions exactly how they are shown
(with the exception of the IP)
»Please do not advertise your server in the comments, if you do I will delete your post and block you from posting future comments.
»If you would like to upload a video of your own server you may submit it as a video response.
»If your external IP doesn't work when you put it into the web browser try using your internal IP. It should look something like this 192.168.x.x
»Give your friends your external IP address for them to connect to your server. You also use that same IP but you can also use 127.0.0.1 or type in localhost. If you don't remember your external IP just go to http://whatismyip.com
»Note if you plan on changing your port in the server.properties file you must include that at the end of the ip when connecting to the server. For example 5.108.25.56:25566 the first part 5.108.25.56 is the server's ip address and 25566 would be the port, the two are separated by a colon. You must forward this port!

@Destroyer185 what do i do if it says "Can't Keep Up!"?
Atmoscraft 1 week ago
@Atmoscraft You can try giving the server some more RAM depending on how much you have installed on your computer. Just change the first number Xmx1024M to multiples of 1024, so for example if you want 2Gb you would change it to 2048M.

Hey my Launcher.bat file is coming up as "'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." Please help me with this little bump in the road I have experienced?
MattyBoiiy 1 month ago
@MattyBoiiy You will have to fix your System's PATH so it can find java. The part 5:45 explains how to do that.
