Started with Squat in tonight's workout, pause was too short but other than that it was an ok lift. Then pyramided up in the Deadlift. 220 didn't feel good at all, 260 felt heavy, 280 seemed like it was my max for the day... Not sure what happened just before the 300kg set, but I felt fired up listening to 50cent... haha!! It's the first time I do more than one rep @300. Very good vibEs!!!

  • nice paused squat

  • @Raptorel Yes I have tried this with bench press but to be honest I did not notice any real gains, except for the feeling. But as far as objective parameters speed or reps, I didn't see any improved figures.

  • @chezkenny Cool. I'll switch soon to what you're doing :D

Have you tried unracking? I always do that in my squat workouts. I go to (or close to) my 1RM in the warm ups and then put 50 kg more on the bar and just unrack it for 10 seconds for potentiation. Then the work sets definitely will feel lighter.

  • @Raptorel Yes absolutely I work up to just one heavy set on max day. In Squat I work up to a 1RM. And in Deadlift I worked up to a 3RM here but I just 2 weeks ago I did 10@250kg, then 6-7@275kg, whatever, just one all-out set for Deadlift on max day.

  • @chezkenny Oh very nice, thanks for the answer - I asked you that because I want to switch to what you're doing soon to maintain my strength while shedding down fat... preparing to be better athletically and light. I'm guessing for your strength day you just work up to a single set of 5 then? Not 3x5 but 1x5 right? Because here you do 3x3...

  • @Raptorel No I ramp up after warm-up of course, from 60%-80% for 3 sets of 3, then I go back to 60% and ramp up again, I do this 2-3X. Here is an example with today's Squat:

    Squat:

    - 3@160, 3@170, 3@180

    - 3@160, 3@170, 3@180

    - 5@160, 5@140 (2 backdown sets just cause I maxed out yesterday, but usually I go for a third round)

Tomorrow I will go heavier for 3 rounds:

    - 3@180, 3@200, 3@220

    - 3@180, 3@200, 3@220

    - 3@180, 3@200, 3@220

  • @chezkenny I have a question: on your dynamic days, do you work up your sets to a 3 explosive reps set? Just that? A warm-up and one set of 3 reps for the squat, bench and deadlift?

  • @Raptorel Come on bro, they were just small grenades!! I saved the bomb for my Max next week! Thank you haha

  • Atomic bombs fell at 0:32 , 0:36 , 0:45

    You absolutely killed the weights.

  • @cwbc1985 I keep a log only in my mobile phone!! haha
