S&D Euro-deputee Anni Podimata today won support on a compromise to introduce a financial transactions tax at EU level. According to the deal adopted today in the European Parliament, stocks and bonds would be taxed at a minimum rate of 0.1% and derivatives at 0.01% by 2014. The European Parliament will vote on this compromise during its plenary session 21-24 May in Strasbourg.
