tylerdurden666able I think we have (a) too many threads of discussion going and (b) we are hogging this comment section. I think it is definitely worth continuing this discussion, but we should do so through messages not here. To that end, I will message you a bit later on. Hogging a comment page like this is just poor YouTube etiquette.
But you are saying they are possessed by demons. You do realize that you are demonizing people who are actually only physically ill. I don't accept the doctrine of the soul btw, the mind and the body are one and the same. There is also no "good understanding of God", it is all tainted by your own admission.
Well, if the devil is able to take over and misrepresent the core aspects of what constitutes God's message to humanity, then there is in fact no valid form of worship, and you are always a Satanist by default. In fact anyone who worships anything is automatically a Satanist, and only Atheists who worship at no false altars have any hope of being saved. If any of it is corrupt, it is all suspect. Don't drink from a poison well.
Your misreading of history on this matter is grotesque. Prior to the Council of Nicea and the ratification of agreed texts, there was no Bible, only a broad collection of texts. To all intents and purposes the only Bible was in fact the Torah, certainly this text of the vengeful God of the Jews had no room for Jesus in it. I also suspect if you had read the excluded textx (which I have read translations of, such as the Gospel of Judas) you grasp why they were excluded.
Well, to some degree at least, commerce is part of how our species organizes itself. You claim it is immoral. So did the communists. The fact remains that those who criticize commerce and capital have yet to offer anything other than deathcamps in place of it.
I think you are being grossly unfair and uninformed about how much mental health sciences can actually achieve to help desperate and troubled people restore some normality to their lives. Religion had nothing comparable to offer. Instead it used to torture and demonize the mentally ill, and I fear that is exactly what you are indicating you support. You should be ashamed of yourself for your lack of mercy, patience, and insight. Sick people need care, not your scorn.
You may have your beliefs about what creates mental illness, but moral fibre is not lacking in the majority of the people I treat. Many have been victims of atrocious events that have left them traumatised. Others have been poisoned by things they have come in contact with. The fact remains, that a great many conditions have been understood neurologically and are treatable. Perhaps not to the depth we might like, but enough to improve matters enormously.
Sorry, I cannot believe in anything for which there is no evidence. You are also correct, that science often does some dreadful things, especially in the area of medicine. However, we are a species of ape that is desperately seeking to improve itself through knowledge, we can hardly be expected to get everything right first time. Whatever the ills of science, they are many times better than what passed for medicine in the Mediaeval era with only God and Error.
Oh dear, did you really say that God's ends will justify his means ? That's more Machiavellian than Machiavelli.
As far as I see, the world makes great sense. There is the mission of human progress as typefied by scientific inquiry. There are the forces of ignorance that oppose the scientific mission, like religion. Then there is Capital, that seeks solely to increase it's power and reach, and seeks to harness science. Of these 3 forces, only science is productive.
