  • It can be done some motors from the late 70's were just awful though . They used some bad metal and the cranks and cams were not real good. Instead of a steel crank some changed to cast Iron. The cams used soft type metal to overcome noise and they did not last too long. On a good note though the handling and cornering came a long way! The 6.6 with a retuned emision and a few tweeks would run! A ford 302 sucked bad! 79 had the lowest power Vette and Mustang ever!

  • @tornadvort211 The 6.6 litre was a good engine though - the '76 firebird 454 did faster times stock in the dragstrip than many famous muscle cars in the 60's, and it could be turned into an even bigger monster quite easily. The 6.6 was kind of an "outdated" engine, which in this case is "good". Ford and chrysler were hit harder by the emission controls. Mustang had no V8 for some years, and chrysler performance cars and good engines just vanished.

  • GREAT VIDEO AND YOU MENTIONED THE AMX AND JAVELIN! Sad thing is even though the firebird had a 6.6 in 79 it had low hp. due to emision and low compresion,,,not to worry though you could throw a cam in, change pistons and there you go now your ready to play! AMC HAD OPTIONAL POWERHOUSE MOTORS,, they handled real sketchy though,,,GREAT VIDEO DUDE!

  • @tornadvort211 Thanks! I heard that the 6.6 could easily get late 60's hp figures by taking the emission control system and changing a few easy parts such as the carb. Changing the cam and pistons i bet it'd be a 400+hp beast.

  • well if it were my list i would get hell too cuz mine would be all gm. and i only rant cuz i own a chevelle and monte carlo and my brother got a gto so its hard not to bash someones list when you dont see them up there. but you were thinking outside of the box with a lot of choices.

  • @HighOctaneSS I am much more of a chevy fan now than a year ago. I didn't know much about chevrolet, and i thought it was little more than 350's underpowered 454's and ocasionally a 427. They did a lot of great cars and a lot of lesser known engines, like the high powered 327's. You're lucky for having so many great cars in your family xD

  • 71 mustang #1 ?!...'read's name' ooooo ok ;)

  • I found out a 79 Firebird also had a 6.6 olds motor , a guy who owns one told me his had this stock.I like 60,s muscle cars but will admit The 70's Firebird and Camaro really handled better than the 60's version. My friend had a Camero 305 that was cooked and we found a small block 400 out of a early wrecked 1970 Caprice to replace the bad motor. It handled it well and and ran great!. I did not know 76 had a 454 ,that would kick!

  • Nice list

  • FORD MUSTANG FTW
