"Charade", as sung by Johnny Hartman

Hands down, my favorite male vocalist of this or any generation. As a tenor/baritone myself, his smokey style and unique phrasing have inspired me for years. A voice like no other: tobacco smoke, heartbreak and fine aged scotch, Beautiful.

Usually smoking doesn't help the vocals, but in this case he gets a pass. Wowie Zowie.

Don't get me wrong here,
Johnny Hartman's voice is like no other.
No point trying to compare the unique vocal style of
Chet Baker to the masterful Johnny Hartman.
By the way, in my humble opinion ,Johnny owns
"My One and Only Love."
Cheers!

@ladypodtron My dear, did you just compare the dulcet baritone of Johnny Hartman to Chet Baker? Oh my! ;0)

Strange, chaotic free-jazz backup band, beautiful, quirky baritone lead vocals. Am I in Heaven?
