The Fellowship of the Ring lost this award to a film about an obsessive mathematician.
The Two Towers lost this award to a film about two whores on Death Row (I wouldn't mind so much if that terrible musical hadn't won over "The Pianist," as well).
Thank God the Academy was actually THINKING SENSIBLY this year!
