  • Hey Chris i use the aero pro drive GT and im looking to switch to racquet that has a little more control and feel would the Gold 99 be a good choice. Thanks!

  • @cyprus2943,

The Gold 99 will offer a lot more feel and control. The feel will be much softer and lower powered compared to your Babolat. Another Donnay to look at would be the new Formula 100 which is very similar to your racquet, but a little softer and more comfortable.

  • @tenniswarehouse and one more question would you recommend as a string set up for the 99 version a poly or maybe a poly/gut hybrid

  • @cyprus2943,

A poly/gut or poly/multi hybrid would give you dynamite control, feel, spin and decent power in that racquet. Definitely the way I would go.

    Chris, TW

  • In addition do you think that me who is used to Head prestige series can adjust to the xgold 94 or xred 94. Overall please let me know which in your opinion is the better buy xred or xgold. I appreciate your help.

  • @hoodbhoy,

The X-Red offers a softer feel. The X-Dual Gold offers slightly more power and stability, still has great feel but quite as soft as the Red.

If you like the smooth and soft feel of the Prestige racquets you will find it an easy switch to Donnay. The X-Dual is an update to the X-Series, so go with the Gold if you want to use a racquet that will have longer availability. The Platinum 94 is also well worth a look and close to the Prestige spec in weight etc.

  • I had the gold and silver one, now i have the x-yellow 99 i haven't played with it yet but the gold one was cool!

  • Hi Chris I have played with the various reincarnations of the Head Prestige midsize series from the intelligence days right upto the present Youtek. I am a hard hitting baseliner who prefers a racquet to have spin potential and control as the power is supplied by me to an extent. I am abit confused at the moment. I want to purchase an Xred94 but they are hard to find in my grip size and so am looking at the the xgold94. Which is better do you think in terms of feel and spin potential and overall

  • @robertinhojeff,

X-Dark Red would be the closest fit. Both the Red and the Gold mids would require either some lead tape or the Donnay customization kit to bring them up to spec. Out of those two, I would go with the Gold.

    Hope that helps,

    Chris, TW

  • i have a Volkl PB mid, if i need to change, what do u think is better??

    xred or xgold??
