ha I recognized gloomy Sunday instantly. Probably says something about my disposition XD

@jaboogiedoo By that logic a keyboard isn't a musical instrument.
-
@92Payka I suppose I bothered for the same reason you bothered responding to me.
-
@jaboogiedoo But you're arguing over semantics. It's so silly. you're not arguing about instruments at that point, you're discussing what the word "new" means. Why bother?

@92Payka The person whose claim I was addressing is the man in the video. He says it's a new instrument, but it isn't. It's a controller without any significant improvements on other controllers that exist. If it were just a comment, I would ignore it, but as it's the topic of the video, this controller should not be misrepresented as more than what it is.

@jaboogiedoo Almost every instrument, or any idea for that matter is a reworking of another one. Who on earth would disagree with you? Every string instrument is just a more interesting version of a harp or whatever the first string instrument was. What difference does it make? I suppose I didn't see the person you were arguing with but it all just seems a little silly and pedantic.

@92Payka I'm not really arguing that it isn't an instrument. I'm arguing that it's nothing new, just a slight reworking of controllers that already exist. The whole 'instrument or not' thing was kind of a side discussion that proved my point that saying "I invented a new thing" is a false claim, since it's the same as the old thing. If you don't believe me, let me introduce you to this new baseball I invented. It has the stitches in completely different spots, but otherwise it's the same.

@jaboogiedoo Who the hell cares? This is all ridiculous semantics. You can construe the meaning of the words "instrument" and "controller" into whatever you want, it doesn't change what they are.

@soloflight1 because not everything beautiful needs to be butchered and turned into a goddamned iphone app. jesus.

@coolguitarguy193 It's awesome, no denying that, but it is not an instrument. It doesn't produce the sound. It only controls the sound, therefore it's a controller. It's the equivalent of a guitar's fretboard. It changes the qualities of a sound, but without the computer there to translate the actions of the user into notes (such as the vibrations of a guitar's strings) it's nothing but a piece of useless equipment.
It's a more interesting version of a keyboard.
